As the economies of developing countries boom, so does their demand for energy. Because of the long lead time for major fusion facilities and the commitment of resources to them well in advance, it may be hard to influence the upcoming generation of large tokamaks. The United States funds, constructs, and operates the facility and pays the costs of its own test coils. Stations and are along the northern and eastern boundary fence, respectively, at Clean Slate II. Peak plutonium concentrations, accompanied by elevated gross alpha concentrations and the detection of americium Am by gamma spectroscopy, occurred between March and May These operating conditions require new materials that can reliably withstand these extreme thermal and pressure environments.
The U. Other nations' fusion programs have also benefited from U. A major challenge therefore is to develop a new generation of surface layers that are extremely robust under aggressive chemical conditions. Figure 3 Correlation between irradiation effect evolution and computational materials science methods.
As we look toward the future, two points are very clear: 1 the economy and security of this nation is critically dependent on a readily available, clean and affordable energy supply; and 2 no one energy solution will meet all future energy demands, requiring investments in development of multiple energy technologies. Broader U. Stations and are located on the northern and southeastern perimeter fence lines, respectively, of the Clean Slate III site. The goal was to outline specific Priority Research Directions PRDs that would ultimately lead to the development of vastly improved materials across a broad range of future energy technologies. Dust transport by suspension and saltation is strongly dependent on wind speed.

In three policy areas conditions on technology transfer arise in the implementation of cooperative projects: national security, protection of the economic interests of U.
They are considered the reference structural material, at least for the first generation of future fusion reactors, given their technological maturity, developed fabrication routes, mastered joining technology and worldwide industrial experience.
The four panels were asked to assess the current status of research in RTNS-II utilization plan book of these four areas and identify the most promising research directions that would bridge the current knowledge gaps in understanding how these four extreme environments impact materials at the atomic and molecular levels.
In addition, the breeding of tritium during operation to fuel the plasma is indispensable for the reactor self-sufficiency; this will be achieved through 6 Li n, t 4 He or 7 Li n, nt 4 He reactions in the blanket enhanced by neutronmultiplier functional materials such as Be or Pb one of ITERs goal is to demonstrate this with the test blanket module Still, an existing international organization may provide a framework for initiating a project, as was the case with the European Organization for Nuclear Research CERN.
Saltation sensors and saltation traps are deployed at the stations adjacent to the Clean Slate sites. These conditions include aqueous and non-aqueous liquids such as mineral acids, alcohols, and ionic liquids and gaseous environments such as hydrogen, ammonia, and steam.

The United States funds, constructs, and operates the facility and pays the costs of its own test coils. Congress would probably be reluctant to endorse such cooperation because of political sensitivity to Japanese incursions into U.
The annual appropriation process makes it difficult for the United States to commit to multiyear projects without the possibility of 85 facing a choice later of either reneging or sacrificing other elements of the fusion program.
All speakers reported on difficulties and delays in communication and agreement. No saltation traps are deployed at Station Failure in the initial agreement to create a mechanism to decide on the site almost resulted in cancellation of the project in l An executive committee, with one representative from each participant, decides on the test program.
The extent of reliance on international cooperation to achieve the objectives of the U. CERN went on to become a highly successful institution, with international participation in design and construction of large-scale facilities and in performance of experiments.
